on 29-08-2011, my father Sh. Chawla went for a general check up. Dr. Ravi Gupta Cardiologist was in OPD. When he was contracted for the general check up, he made Mr. Chawla feel that he was very unwell and needs to be hospitalised in the ICU, which inspite of resistance from Mrs. Chawla was taken in ICU. Wherein Angiography was done without permission from any of the family members, and on the same night at 9 p.m. he was pressurised to undergo Angioplasty, without which he was told that he will die. Two stents were put (as told) and still on the same night at 12 p.m. he died. But was declared by Dr. Ravi Gupta that he died at 7 a.m. on 30.08.2011. and all the discharge/death summary was falsely fabricated to suit the hospital and Dr. Ravi Gupta. This was done for money. Next day Rs. 2,46,000/- were deposited to take the body. Dr. Ravi Gupta is a murderer still roaming free to kill more patients for money.

My mother is admitted to sir T hospitals at Bhavnagar, for treatment of bed sores and knee pain. She has been admitted since last Saturday(25 Feb 2012). There is little improvement in her health.Hospital doctors are now asking to do dressing ourselves, they would not do it.Only my wife is there with my mother and she is not having knowledge about how to do dressing for those bed sores. When she requested resident doctor/s for dressing he/they replied that now nothing to do for dressing just to apply cream and that you can do yourself. For what reason patient is admitted to hospital if relatives are capable to do medical treatment at their own ?, Is there any meaning to keep patient in hospital if relatives able to do treatment ?

Regarding Extra cost of Hospital Charges for Patients

My mother joined in Syamala Hospitals for treatment of tumour inside stomach. Initially Dr.Sailaja told to arrange an amount of Rs.8000/- for entire treatment. Later she billed an amount of Rs.9300/- plus anesthesia charges 800/- Extra. Cleverly They haven't given any Reciepts for those payments. charges as follows:- Operation theatre- 2000/- Medicines- 2500/- Surgery- 4000/- Room for 2days- 1000+300(service) Apron- 50/- Totoal=9850/-(500/- Discount) They provided such a worst service like no other Private Hospitals do. The Operation theatre is of no min. equipment with not even a T.T injection but costed Rs.2000/-. The actual medicines given are of just Rs.370/- but they charged 2500/-. For the duration of 20 minutes surgery they took 4000/-. And like a Luxury Lodge they are taking 150/- extra for the room in the name of service per day. Moreover the charges differ as extra for Re-embursement Patients.

With profound sadness, I have to inform you that my mother-in-law, Sudharani Saha, died on February 25, 2011, at AMRI Hospital at Dhakuria, Kolkata, which we thought is one of the best health-care places in Kolkata. To our amazement, we have discovered that we were totally wrong about this place. In fact, the complaints about the AMRY Hospital are outrageous and incomprehensible. I am absolutely certain that you all are aware of the dismal records of AMRI as stated and recorded in the following websites: http://www.consumercomplaints.in/complaints/amri-hospital-dhakuria-kolkata-c526209.html http://www.consumercomplaints.in/complaints/amri-hospital-dhakuria-c414074.html http://www.india-complaints.com/2010/08/amri-hospitals-doctor-radiologist-brutal-atitude-to-earn-money-putting-patient-in-critical-situation http://www.complaints.com/2011/april/3/DOCTORS_ARE_GOOD_SALES_MAN_254276.htm http://www.india-complaints.com/Company/amri-hospitals http://www.mouthshut.com/review/AMRI-Hospital-Calcutta-Kolkata-lqtnsprstm In a nut shell, my mother-in-law became ill from cold-related symptoms and therby was taken to a nursing home at her home town, Bardhaman. Doctors at Bardhaman suggested that she ought to be transferred to AMRI Hospital, Kolkata. That is exactly what was done and my mother-in-law was admitted to AMRI on February 12, 2011. For the first two days after her admission, Dr. S. K. Todi at AMRI Hospital kept telling my wife and her sister that their mother’s conditions were improving and in a few days she will be fine and their doctors would be able to take her off the ventilation. Strangely enough, Dr. Todi left Kolkata for about week, telling everyone there at AMRI that he had to go to a Medical Conference somewhere in India. While Dr. Todi was away from the hospital, he assigned Dr. Susmita Basu to be in-charge of the IC Unit. Unfortunately, Dr. Basu proved to be a very incompetent physician and was of no help to us. More than a week later, Dr. Todi came back and told my wife and her sister that their mother is in critical condition; therefore, nothing else can be done! Therefore, she should be taken back to Bardhaman, preferably back to her home where she can take her last breath or simply die. My wife and her sister were faced with a very difficult decision to take their mother off the ventilation. As such, the ventilation was replaced with regular oxygen in order to see how long she could breathe on her own and eventually she could be taken to Bardhaman. Unfortunately, she passed away shortly thereafter. It was told by the ICU doctors at AMRI that her body would be kept for a couple of hours just to allow the family members to arrive there and see the body; but that was not the case. Her body was quickly mutilated beyond recognition and completely wrapped up by plastic sheets! No explanations were given to our relatives for such heinous acts by ARMI nurses/doctors. In fact, to make the matter worse, no personnel including doctors responsible for her treatment were found nearby. This is the most unprofessional behavior displayed by the health-care providers at AMRI. According to my wife, doctors at AMRI are money suckers and they are not there to save a patient’s life, but to transform patient into an unusually critical condition so that the patient’ relatives will panic which will give the hospital an ample opportunity to make their bills and charges to grow perpetually larger and larger! In our case, some of the charges in the bills did not have any explanations. Also, to say the least, the pharmacy workers at AMRI are untruthful. For example, they were charging for medicine without even giving the medicine to patient. Is this a policy of AMRI Management? Now the question is: whom should we blame for all these atrocities? Frankly, no one knows. In fact, my wife has met at AMRI Hospital with many patients' relatives who also expressed the same views about AMRI. Obviously, I would like to make a formal complaint against this hospital, and particularly, against the gross negligence of Dr. Todi. Finally, this kind of gross negligence by the AMRI doctors and management is totally unacceptable. As a matter of fact, this kind of unprofessional act by AMRI doctors must be stopped before they cause further agony and pains to many other poor families. Therefore, my only hope is that the new government of the people in West Bengal will do whatever necessary to punish these hospitals and nursing homes whose sole goal has been to make money by killing, not by curing the poor patients!

And was asked not to give food or any other supplement till they recommend. My parents followed their instructions & My pet Jingle was surviving only through Saline bottle. But instead of recovering, situation become worst .On 26th Jul'11 7 pm my parents took jingle to the hospital but the compounder misbehaved with my parents & asked them to leave the hospital stating that hospital working hours is only till 5/6pm & they do not operate after this. My Mom insisted to have a look & medicate as Jingle's health was becoming worst & severe & will pay for the additional expenses. After this the compunder & doctors behaviour changed as they can charge extra and so responded & started treatment but due to their negligance Jingle passed last night. I feel hopeless As animals cannot speak but the pain he went through I don't know why doctors cannot understand. I want justice so that in the future it should not happen with any other speechless animals.

Bone Marrow Transplant in CMC, Vellore?Think over it once again.

We have spent around 8 months in CMC, Vellore for the treatment of my sister and even after putting our best efforts my beloved sister passed away due to the negligence of the nursing staff. My sister was a patient of AML (Acute Myeloid Leukemia) (A type of blood cancer) and the senior doctor at CMC, Vellore has suggested Bone Marrow Transplant for the treatment of the same. My sister has spent most of these 8 months in the private ward single room (A-Block) where she has received good care from both, the doctors and the nursing staff. No infection was developed in her body even at the times when she was critically neutropenic (TLC count was less than 100). But some of the services are not available in the private block (such as CT scan, small surgery to implant the hickman line) for which the patient has to be brought to the respective laboratory. Getting these tests done is more of a torture for family member and patient, rather than a test. Following are some problems that we have faced- 1)You have to follow the queue system irrespective of the condition of patient. 2)The staff behaves rudely with the patient and family. 3)You will be charged higher if the patient is a private patient, for the same service. My sister has undergone all the treatments successfully including the Bone Marrow Transplant but unfortunately she has got GVHD (Graft Versus Host Disease) of guts which leads to high internal bleeding. Due to continuous bleeding the doctor has suggested us to shift her in ICU. She was shifted to general ICU as private block’s (A-Block) ICU was not functional. The ICU was more like a general ward. Following are some problems that we have faced – 1)Only two doctors on duty out of which one is new (almost looks like an intern). 2)No waiting area for relatives. 3)20 beds in a large hall, separated by curtains. So if a patient has a viral infection, there is high probability that it can be spread to other patients as well. 4) Negligent nursing staff- a) It is a well known fact that hygiene is the most critical factor in the treatment of cancer as the body of the patient is highly neutropenic and susceptible to infection. The nursing and laboratory staff was so negligent that they didn’t even use mask and gloves before giving any medication to my sister. b) They don’t even go through the file (consist of patient’s medical history and Do’s n Don’ts) sent by the nursing staff of A-Block. c) Doesn’t take care of hygiene at the time of medication. (The connector of hickman line needs to be clean before and after any medication. The medication should be stopped if any injection has to be given but we realized that none of these best practices were followed). My sister has got blood infection which got spread in the entire body. Even the doctors were unable to stop the infection though they have used all possible medication. I hope that God doesn’t give such a dreadful disease to anyone but even if you or your loved one is suffering from blood cancer\MDS\Thalassemia and considering CMC, Vellore for Bone Marrow Transplant ………………..give it a second thought!!!!!!!

Fortunately, I got pet treated by another Vet, but she has suffered psychological trauma and has been abused. She is very scared and not her amicable normal self. Instead of admitting their folly the Dr. Vidyasagar began to threaten and challenge me to complain. I was manhandled and pushed out while carrying my pet. These Govt Vet staff are prejudiced and politicize around my tiny pet and me for whatever ulterior motive. Consequently, it is the innocent pet that is tortured besides causing mental agony to me. Please view the link below: http://www.doxtop.com/browse/ddf6464e/callous-killers-of-narayanguda-govt-vet -clinic.aspx Sadly, no action initiated.

We have taken my brother Utpal Mukherjee for a suspected brain tumor case. In CMC vellore he had been checked by Dr. Chaco on Dec 11, 2010 and advised to get admitted in hospital. His hospital registration number is 839431D. After admission doctor suspected it as a brain cancer and performed a biopsy. No medicine and no treatment had been done during his admission. After 15 days, he had been discharged and we had to pay Rs. 25,000/-. After that when we went to collect Biopsy report, doctor told us biopsy report is incomplete and it needs to do the biopsy again. After several requests nobody has shown us the biopsy report. We spent 1 month time, travel cost, Rs. 25000/- just for nothing. We'd like to know what sort of treatment is this?

MOST URGENT Sri Balaji Action Medical Institute, Lala Mange Ram Agarwal, Chairman Respected Sir, Dear All, I would like to take your kind attention on the fake advertisements and promises of Action Balaji Hospital in Paschim Vihar in West Delhi. I would like to alert you that please don't go for any type of treatment in Action Balaji Hospital by recognizing their outer exposure and other inner facility. As, we have become prey of this hospital and My father is now death. My Father is suffering from heart problem but he came to know about this only Oct. 2010 month earlier from his now Death on 27th Oct. 2010. He was admitted in hard command ICU in Balaji Hospital and informed by doctors Arya & Mangla and there is water in lunges after their angiography and so he would be treated by putting stents in the heart. There was some injuries also during putting stents that take my father in very critical condition. They give the ventilators without our permission, So My father's condition is getting worse day by day after putting stents. But no better treatment was given by doctors of Balaji. Except this, they put him on ventilator. They kept my father for 15-20 days on Ventilator and after that, my father was death. This is the only reason for the death of my father. The doctors are also very rude. I am requested to pl. given the better treatment to all pts.& allow to meet his relative any time. They could not understand the doctor- patient relationship. I am waiting your reply. Regards,

Wrong diaognosis and treatment by Dr Chitra Rammurthy

I had complaint of heavy bleeding, abdominal and lower back pain during my periods. I consulted Dr.C Indira Reddy at Sagar Hospital in March,2009 , bangalore. She adviced for a TVS scan. Scan report showed presence of an intramural fibroid of around 2.2cms *2.5 cms. Dr. Indira Reddy asked me to undergo laproscopic myomectomy for fibroid removal. I got panic and visited Dr. Chitra Rammurthy at Apollo, Bangalorein March 2009 . She went through the reports and told the fibroid small. she asked me to continue using Pause table that i was using from Sept,2008. I didn't get any relief and the problem was worsened with every month. Till Feb,2010 Dr. Chitra didn't provide any solution to the problem. In Feb,2010 she asked me to get TVS done. TVS report showed the presence of a fibroid of around 4.2cms*3.5cms. She had given Decapeptyl injection saying the fibroid will shrink. This injection has worsened my problem and i got my peroids 10 days earlier. She asked to get the TVS done again. This report showed minute reduction in fibroid size. After looking at the report, Dr Chitra said injection is not working and i need to undergo hysteroscopy for the fibroid removal. I underwent hysteroscopy on March 25th, 2010 at Apollo Bangalore. She told the procedure was successful. Discharge summary stated the fibroid base was resected. She gave Decapeptyl injection again on 26th March, 2010. Further, she asked me to visit her every month and told i will not get my periods b'coz of Decapeptyl injection. After the surgery, i suffered a lot with back pain. I visited Dr Chitra in the month of April and she asked me to take Duphaston to get my periods. After taking the tablets for 10 days, i got my period for 0.5 day. In may, again she asked me to take Duphaston and this time i got my period for 1 day. In June when i got my period, bleeding and pain were same as before the surgery. I went to Chitra and asked me to get the TVS done. Report showed the presence of fibroid and same size as before the surgery. We were shocked to learn the presence of fibroid. Dr Chitra advised c-section myomectomy. We lost faith in her and visited doctors in Hyderabad with all the reports. We learnt that during all the scans at Apollo, an intramural fibroid was mistaken for submucous fibroid for the size and Dr. Chitra failed to remove the fibroid during hysteroscopy. I underwent laproscopic myomectomy on July,24th 2010. After this surgery, i was free from all the symptoms. For 1 year, i consulted Dr. Chitra and didn't get any relief. After 1 year she did the surgery and failed to remove the fibroid. She was so careless in doing the surgery and giving the report as if its removed. When the problem was repeated also, she didn't try to find out what went wrong. I was fortunate enough to go to Hyderabad and found a good doctor.

Dear Sir, I would like to raise complaint against Fortis Hospitals, Mulund, Mumbai wherein my wife has taken consultation on 6th Oct'10 for her delivery. On the same day, we have informed the doctor that alongwith the operation for delivery, she needs to undergo family planning operation i.e. TL also. Accordingly, we got an estimate of Rs.72,000.00 for the said operations. However, on 15th Oct'10 i.e. at the time of discharge, we were surprised to find that the hospital has billed us Rs.84,000.00 instead of Rs.72,000.00 i.e. excess by 12K. Upon taking up the matter with the billing department, we were informed that 12K has been charged for the family planning operation. We tried our level best to convince the billing department as well as to the Hospital Admn. Manager so as to get the reversal, but in vain. Finally, I was forced to pay the said amount. Now, i would request you to intervene & arrange refund of 12K from Fortis Hospital, Mulund, Mumbai. Regards, Deepak

my father was admitted to fortis hospital mulund with a complaint of severe chest pain. during the entire stay there was such gross negligence by the nurses, the rmo's the doctors in i.c.u.; it was sheer luck that my father came out alive.only the interventional cardiologist was the person who really really cared. the physiotherapist attending to my father was so rude and self-centered that my father was scared to even talk to her. me myself being a doctor have attended a fair share of i.c.u's and o.t.'s. and so should have had unrestricted entry to the i.c.u. but just to keep their shortcomings under wraps i think the security was so stict!once when i was visiting our cardiologists, he just phoned the i.c.u's r.m.o., (who himself is m.d. in medicine) to check on the status of my father.to his horror the r.m.o. very coolly said that his pressures were around 50! and when asked what he was doing about it, he was absolutetly clueless. again once my father was in immense pain and gasping (probably for his life) and waiting to be wheeled in to the operation theater, the sisters were busy doing some kind of paper work which i reckon was more important than saving a life, as the senior cardologist was all decked up in his o.t. gear and asking them to please wheel him in. it was around 2.30 am in the night and obviously the nurses were so well trained (in there paperwork) that they knew it was not an emergency as my father was merely screaming in pain and not dead already! such apathy!but not all was lost. the emergency department should be handled by the billing department. these guys are the most hard working people in the entire hospital set-up! they immidietly called on my cell phone to inform me about the cost of the procedure about to take place and within how many hours i'l have to pay. very sincere of them indeed. thats just the tip of the ice-berg.during the course of our entire stay what me and my family went through is just unimaginable. it'l be suffice to say that in the matter of three weeks i lost around six kgs of weight.during a follow up visit one of the receptionists even dared to call our interventional cardiologist a nobody!!! god bless fortis hospital! its been three months since the day of discharge and till now my mouth dries up, legs tremble and hands shake when i am anywhere near that hallowed hospital.

wrong medication and irrevokable loss of my husband at SRM hospital on 26th August

From T.G.Usha W/O.Late T.K.Gopalakrishnan Kodambakkam Chennai – 24 To The Chairman Health and complaint Department Respected Sir, SUB: Justice for the wrong medication given to my husband at SRM Hospital which has become fatal I Mrs.T.G.Usha , W/O T.K.Gopalakrishnan would like to draw your attention towards an untoward and irrevocable incident that happened on 25th / 26th of August at SRM Hospital , WestMambalam. My husband Mr.T.K.Gopalakrishnan,aged 70years was a hale and healthy person who has never been to the extent of being admitted in a hospital and taken any medication all through his life. He has had no medical occurrences of Diabetes ,Cholesterol, Thyroid disorders or any other uncommon medical ailments too, Throughout his medical history, he has never had a chance to even get his blood tested to know his Blood Group till 70 years of his span of life. On August 25th at 1.30 pm he had drowsy feeling together with vomiting and loose stools since morning .Being a very energetic person throughout his life, me and my children could not estimate the cause of his sickness and hence admitted him at the SRM hospital at 3.30pm and explained what has occurred to him since morning . No kind of immediate medical check up was undertaken , in spite of the fact that the patient was 70years old .ECG, X-ray, blood test… parameters are very basic and mandatory whatsoever be the sickness .He was given three bottles of intravenous and a few injections prescribed for stomach disorder , as per the inferences of the doctor in duty at that time. My children who were attending my husband at that time are illiterate but not doctors or professionals in medical field to evaluate the process of medical treatment meted out to my ailing husband. At night 11.00 clock, the patient was critical and my son and daughter had called for the doctor , as per the report given by the hospital . Later, in the morning, the report says that the attenders of the patient had again sent word for the doctors as the patient was lying breathless at 6.30am and passed away at 6.59am . The final death report handed over to me by the SRM hospital forces me to pen this tragedy and utter irresponsibility of the hospital doctors to diagnose the problem , attend to the patient and medicate the patient for the right ailment. If my son/daughter has to only rush at 11.30pm or 6.00am and call the doctor , what are the duty doctors doing without visiting a patient who is critical . The report says that the patient did not cooperate for ECG which is a blatant lie that has really taken toll of my husband’s life. Will any patient , having a problem and being admitted , refuse to take medication at the age of 70?. This can be argued and comprehended but can my husband’s life be saved or brought back now. Whatever said or done , it is absolutely the doctors wrong medication that has led to the death of my husband. From noon 3.30 till morning 6.30am if medical treatment could not be given and life easily saved then my irreparable loss of losing my husband who was my only sole support at my old age, should be looked into and I should be given justice . Hope my pathetic condition would be felt and justice be given Sincerely yours T.G. Usha W/O.T.K.Gopalakrishnan

Excess Billing & Casual Attitude

I along with my daughter Dr. Sasirekha, as the care taker & guardian, had admitted K.Padmagirisan, my father-in-law, for an emergency check-up at the Fortis Malar Hospital Chennai on May 18. He underwent a heart surgery on 20th, but however, died at the post operative ICU within 15-16 hrs after the surgery. The chronology of the events from the admission till death & discharge is summarised below. 1.	The patient was brought for an emergency check-up on 18th afternoon and was advised for a one day observation resulting in admission in the ICU ward (due to non availability of a bed elsewhere), after in initial payment of Rs. 15000/-. 2.	The heart physician prescribed an “Angiographic Examination” which was conducted on 19th after further payment of Rs. 20000/-. 3.	The Angiography results revealed blocks necessitating a by pass surgery, as advised by the attending doctors. 4.	For a surgery & treatment thereafter, paid Rs. Two Lakhs on 19th & 20th (for Two days Of ICU & further 7days as a part of post operative treatments in single AC room category). The fees paid covers pharmacy expenses limited to Rs. 80000/-besides diet & diet counselling charges covering the entire treatment period (2 + 7 Days). 5.	The surgery was carried on 20th between 10 AM to 3 PM & moved to post operative Intensive care unit by around 4 PM. Declared critical, next morning around 9 AM & pronounced dead by 11 AM on the same day. 6.	Directed to pay a balance of Rs.11,600/- prior to taking possession of the dead. The above sequence of events clearly shows, the patient, as a consumer, had absolutely no chance whatsoever in the earth, to have utilised the full treatment benefits (Room charges, pharmacy expenses, diet charges & other associated hospital expenses) for full 9 Days for payment had been made in full in advance and on time, amidst facing great hurdles to mobilise funds in vey short span. Refund for unavailed component of Post Operative treaement for 8 days, when soght, the hospital authoities had repeatedly contended that the fees structure is a cardiology package, irrespective of number of days or the consequent event of the treatment. This in other words diminishes the sanctity of a “Patient Care Scenario” in a noble Hospital Sector to that of a holiday package, a trade practice, in a leisure Hotel / Tourism Industry. I requested the hospitl authorities to view the whole episode in its right perspective and arrange for the appropriate relief, as a normal consumer would be expected, in the above circumstances. Except for a formal mail acknowledgement, there appears to be scanty respect to my legitimate demand from the hospital side even after innumerable follow up efforts. This cold responses, defeats the very fundamental declared hospital code of ethics besides deviating from the stated “Fortis Healthcare corporate objective” of undertaking real initiatives at all levels that would reflect commitment to the community, both being exhibited conspicuously at several places in the hospital premises. I wish to share this experience with other members of this forum & hence posted this narrative. R.Ramani

in the wockhar hospital, rajkot, my father was under the treatment of Dr Niral Mehta. he had to do endoscopy of throat. while consultation also he was busy on his cell. when my father was taken to the operation theater, the doctor was constantly busy with his cell and didn't pay attention. as a result of it my father had to suffer a lot of pain. he said this endoscopy is not successful and he shall have to do it again. he kept us in waiting mode for almost 45 minutes to say the result of endoscopy. his attitude towards a patient was inhuman and not positive.

My father ( Ex sgt. Ramgopal Pareek , reg. no. 97528 , 64 yrs. Old ) admitted through ECHS Jaipur to S.K. soni hospital for MVR & CABG , operation done on 07.06.10 but he was not well after surgery even then after 16 day he was discharge in sick condition , doctor said that if stay more there are more chances of cross infection , but on the night of discharge day (23.06.10 ) my father became serious & feel fever , continuous latrine / urine , looking to his condition we immediately readmitted him to SK soni hospital through ECHS jaipur , at the time of admission doctor told that condition is very serious & diagnosed as septicemia C , after that he died in ICU on 26.06.10 , Isn't it complete carelessness of hospital , did he became so much serious in 24 hours only ? or already sick when discharge , why they do not take proper care while he was already in hospital & why they keep us in dark if he was not curable , my father is victim of improper care of this hospital , eventhough he was operated in infected condition also .

If you or your family member has not visited the Aditya Birla Hospital (Chinchwad, Pune) in the last 3 months you land up paying Rs 400 instead of 250. Have filed in various complaints does not help. How ridiculous, if we did not fall ill in the last 3 months we pay extra to the hospital!!! I have never seen this happen before.

Caused Brain death to my nephew during heart operation due to doctor's mistakes

Hello Sir, Please help me getting justice. I am writing this email with deep Grief, Pain & gallon of tears in my eyes. Also intention of preventing others become a victim as we had and take stringent & stern action against MIOT HOSPITAL AND ITS DOCTORS which is located at Chennai. Also to make sure that they are not repeating their mistakes. Hospital address: MIOT Hospital 4/112, Mount Poonamalle Road Manapakkam, Chennai - 600 089 Tamil Nadu, INDIA I am S.Thennarasu from Tamil nadu. My Nephew(Mr.S.Arvindan 18 yrs old student) who was very kind & dynamic boy lived normal life as other boys. Once we took him for medical checkup at MIOT Hospital. There doctors said he is having extra muscle in his heart better if it is removed. Otherwise, it may create problem at the time of his marriage. Also said there is no threaten for his life because of this operation. Considering his future and hoping doctor's word we agreed to do the operation. Therefore we hospitalized him on 27th May2010 in MIOT Hospital at Manapakkam, Chennai for doing Heart surgery. They did operation on 1st June2010.Since then he was not wakening up and lying unconscious. When we asked doctors about his condition. They said due to anaeesthesia he is lying unconscious tomorrow he will get wakefulness. Also they are not allowed us to see our son for 2 days since operation. Different doctors were telling different reason for his unconscious. So we had a doubt that there is something happening wrong. We therefore decided to call up our family doctor to come & check his condition. Initially they are not allowed our family doctor to go inside the hospital. But after some argument they allowed in. As soon as our family doctor checked his condition he declared that he is died 4 days before it seems, which means operation day itself. They are simply doing drama by putting artificial respiratory system to cheat you also to get remaining money from you& hide their negligence & mistakes they have done during operation. So we became extremely angry and anxious we therefore decided to lodge a complaint at respective police station about hospital. Since they were refusing to take up our complaint we went to meet Chennai police commissioner. He arranged a meeting with hospital MD Dr.Mohandas. In that meeting our family doctor questioned them "how brain dead could happen during heart surgery?" you doctors caused him brain dead due to negligence, inattention, Inexperience & improper treatment, follow up. After long debate they admitted their mistakes saying that brain dead happened yesterday only. We will try our best. But our family doctor again questioned them how you can continue your treatment after knowing brain is dead how it is possible medically? Then they became quiet & casually told, you know, in medical field mistakes are very common. You have to accept whatever result comes. We are totally upset, shock and furious by the way they replied to us. They are not treating poor people's life is so important and precious. Since we started protest against hospital demanding take a action against hospital & doctors, The police agreed to file a FIR against hospital. Then they sent body to respective hospital for doing postmortem. The postmortem, which was done on 15th June2010.This news has been published all news paper and media even in NDTV. We also sent petition to all concern people and council. But no action being taken till date. We have not yet received any report from them. They are still delaying postmortem report to give us. We are suspecting that something is going wrong. Since Hospital MD.Dr.Mohandas who is a rich and well known to all the doctors in Chennai he can influence the doctors who are all done postmortem & ask them to give fake report. Hence, I kindly request you to interfere this matter and get justice for poor people like us. In India, now a day’s Doctors are becoming licensed killer, there is not strict law to punish them. Union Government must enforce a new law to stop such killing happening again and again also teach lesson to such doctors. Because, What is the guarantee that they (Doctors) will not repeat the same mistake and continue their killings? It is not only happening in Chennai also happening across country. In India Many peoples are dying due to doctor's mistakes & negligence. Many such cases are going unnoticed due to people lost hope in Indian's judiciary and thinking that we can't fight against rich peoples. Thanks, Thennarasu.s 09986102292

My mom and dad went for checkup in this eye hospital and they said it was free. The report for both said they had cataract that had to be operated as soon as possible. Later my parents went to Vasan Eye Clinic for checkup (paid) and the doctor over there said there was no cataract and nothing to worry and infact do not touch the eyes. Infact my dad's one eye's optic nerve had failed long time back and could not be revived (He had a surgery long time back at sankara netralaya). At this point of time we are financially fine and are able to afford for the test, medicines and care. But if this is a scam - the financially poor will suffer. I doubt whether the hospitals profits 44.44% in March 2010 (I googled and I am not sure) were because of this fraud

Severe Irregularities pertaining to hospitalisation of my mother

I'd like to bring to your notice how callously AMRI ( Dhakuria , Kolkata) hospital is run, with complete disregard for human life. Shameful and frustrating - to say the least. It's only God's mercy that kept my mother alive, despite the abominable apathy prevalent at every nook and cranny of your hospital. Let me enumerate a few instances in support of my complaint: - On the very first day itself post my mother got shifted from HDU to Female Cardio Ward, we were informed that my mom is being attended by a physiotherapist on a daily basis, and the personnel at the Cardio ward repeatedly assured us that the same is being taken care of. However, it was found that 3 days had gone by without any such treatment and there was no recommendation by any Doctor; - Interestingly some other patient's medical diagnosis was found in my mother's file, which still has me nonplussed. What is the guarantee the she wasn't administered the wrong drugs ? - My mother was admitted on account of a hypo glycemia attack attack, but underwent a throat strateschomy surgery just because your hospital could not provide proper intubation while she was on the ventilator, which led to an infection - Edema. Also, the behaviour of the hospital staffs, right from nurses to lift-men, were extremely rude, especially to elderly people. Terrible customer experience. My mother yet is extremely moved by the way the nurses used to behave rudely espeically in the Female Cardio Ward and was worried in sharing the same with us since she lost all Trust as she was scared of her illness getting addressed - am sure you understand the concerns a patient ( forget the patient party ) has undergone. And finally, and most interestingly, when the time came to settle the bill which, needless to say, was huge, I spotted a discrepancy between the actual and billed number of accu checks (because that was the only item I could have kept a tab on). Our count was correct and accepted. Consequently, the bill was rectified, but only after an endless wait of more than 2 hours! Needless to mention , there’s immense lack of communication between inpatient billing , admissions and the floor managers pertaining to patients shifting from one ward to another and accordingly track the billing – we had to do all the running ( literally ) around to have things settled – for a moment we felt as if the services were offered free of charge the way we were made to run – indeed quite disappointing and personally I have lost all Trust. You'd now agree that I have every reason to wonder whether we were charged scrupulously on the whole. I wish I had the expertise to understand how my mother could have consumed medicines worth Rs 90,000 (Rupees Ninety thousand) approximately in a span of 14 days. Yes or No, I really don't know. And trust me, this is quite a frustrating feeling and surely is a matter of integrity. Please find attached copies of a few documents for your reference which was found in my mother's file. I had written number of mails to the Promoters of the Hospital to which they could surprisingly wrote a apology note which to me is completely unacceptable. The money incurred needs to be justified at all cost and due compensation of 10 crores needs to be paid as compensation to the patient party. Regards
