Roadblocks and callous attitude
I am trying to get SBI Marina Arcade branch to transfer my own money back to me but they did not accept my email and scanned PDF instructions. I went to the local SBI office in Washington DC and they sent my request to the Indian branch but still it was rejected. The Delhi branch wants the letter couriered to them causing me further delay, economic loss and harrasment. I was told by the Delhi Marina Arcade branch personnel that they do not trust the communication from their colleagues in the Washington DC office either and that the DC office should have attested my letter first. How is the DC office expected to attest my letter when the Marina Arcade branch has my file and money for over fifteen years. They can very well compare signatures when I sent them the instructions or when they originated from their own USA office.
It seems very hypocritical as State Bank of India has always accepted my remittance instructions by both email and fax. I am a proud Indian but it seems that we will never be considered a tier one country as one of the main reasons is our antiquated banking system. |
